WEB is a middle school transition program for our new 6th graders and is implemented by our specially selected 8th grade WEB Leaders. Students apply to become a WEB Leader at the end of their 7th grade year. During the selection process we look for students who have good communication skills, leadership potential, exhibit responsibility, and have a willingness to share tips that have helped them be successful in middle school.
Leaders commit to three days the week before school starts, two for training and one for running the 6th grade orientation. Two WEB Leaders are assigned to 10 sixth graders. They lead their groups in games which help the 6th graders meet new people and have fun while learning about campus life.
Throughout the year, WEB Leaders have opportunities to plan other fun events for 6th graders including a movie night and 3 on 3 basketball tournament. WEB Leaders also visit 6th grade classrooms and present tips on getting good grades and how to handle bullying.
The 6th grade WEB orientation is held the Friday before school starts in the Williams gym. The orientation begins at 8:00am and ends at 12:00pm. Students will participate in small group games, receive a tour of the campus, and receive their schedule before going home. Sixth graders who are enrolled at Williams will receive a postcard over the summer with orientation details. We hope all 6th graders can attend as participating in the orientation relieves a lot of anxiety prior to the first day of middle school. Event dates regarding WEB can be found under the 'Important Dates' tab.
